SLED Charges Former State Trooper with Assault & Battery

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) charged Wayne Heinz LaBounty, 63, with Assault & Battery – 1st Degree on Tuesday, April 14, 2026. The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department requested the SLED investigation.
Details can be found in the attached warrant.
LaBounty was booked into Lexington County Detention Center.
The case will be prosecuted by the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office.
