SLED Charges Hampton County Man with Human Trafficking

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) charged Clifton James Jr., 71, with Trafficking in Persons – Victim Under 18 Years of Age – First Offense on Thursday, October 15, 2026. The Hampton County Sheriff’s Office requested the SLED investigation.

Details can be found in the attached warrant.   

Clifton Jr. was booked into the Hampton County Detention Center.

This case will be prosecuted by the 14th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
