SLED charges three people with harboring an escaped convict wanted for human trafficking

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) charged Kalynn Jade Cloud, 20, Amani Nekwan Vaughn, 30, and Guy Frank Talley, III., 27, with Harboring an Escaped Convict. Cloud and Vaughn were charged on Thursday, July 18, 2024. Talley was charged on Friday, July 19, 2024.

Cloud, Vaughn, and Talley were booked into the Beaufort County Detention Center.
The case will be prosecuted by the 14th Circuit Solicitor's Office Special Victims Prosecution Unit.
The escaped convict, Jaquan Duvall Barnes, 29, was located on Sunday, July 7, 2024, by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office in Jacksonville, Florida.
Barnes was extradited to South Carolina and charged on July 11, 2024, by SLED with Human Trafficking of a Minor, 2 counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor – 2nd Degree, 2 counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor – 3rd Degree, Contributing to Delinquency of a Minor and Unlawful Escape.
SLED Special Agents trained to investigate Human Trafficking related crimes are assigned to the Alcohol, Narcotics, & Vice Services Department. These Agents investigate Human Trafficking referrals from the S.C. Department of Social Services, S.C. Department of Juvenile Justice, the S.C. Attorney General’s Office, and the National Human Trafficking Hotline. Agents also partner with local and federal law enforcement agencies across South Carolina to combat these crimes.
