SLED Charges Bamberg County Detention Center Correctional Officer with Assault & Battery

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) charged Leroy James Strother Jr., 60, with Assault & Battery – 3rd Degree on Monday, August 10, 2026. The Bamberg Police Department requested the SLED investigation.

Details can be found in the attached warrant. 

Strother Jr. was booked into the Bamberg County Detention Center.

The case will be prosecuted by the 2nd Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
