SLED Charges Former Beaufort County Sheriff's Office Deputy and Beaufort County Man Following Hilton Head Island Neighborhood Incident

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) charged William P. ‘Billy’ Squires, 41, and Brian Henry Stahlheber, 47, on Tuesday, October 28, 2025.
SLED charged Squires with four counts of Pointing and Presenting a Firearm at a Person and Breach of Peace - Aggravated in Nature.
SLED charged Stahlheber with Breach of Peace - Aggravated in Nature and Making a False Complaint to a Law Enforcement Officer.
The SLED investigation was requested by the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.
Details can be found in the attached warrants.
Squires and Stahlheber were booked into the Beaufort County Detention Center.
The case was reviewed by the Public Integrity Unit and will be prosecuted by the 1st Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
