SLED Charges Georgia Man with Two Counts of Murder and Other Crimes as Officer Involved Shooting Investigation Continues

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) charged J’Shawn Deontae Dukes, 21, with two counts of Murder on Wednesday, November 12, 2025. SLED also charged Dukes with two counts of Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime and Pointing and Presenting a Firearm on Thursday, November 13, 2025. The SLED investigation was requested by North Augusta Department of Public Safety following an officer involved shooting on Sunday, October 26, 2025. The officer involved shooting investigation is active and ongoing.

Dukes was booked into the Aiken County Detention Center.
The case will be prosecuted by the 2nd Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
