SLED Charges Lexington County Man with Carrying a Weapon on School Property

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) charged Jimmy Lee Thompson, Jr., 18, with Carrying a Weapon on School Property on Thursday, October 9, 2025. The SLED investigation was requested by the South Carolina State University Department of Public Safety.
Details can be found in the attached warrant.
Thompson, Jr. was booked into the Orangeburg County Detention Center.
The case will be prosecuted by the 1st Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
SLED’s investigations into two shootings that occurred at S.C. State are active and ongoing.
