SLED Charges North Carolina Man with Obtaining Money Under False Pretenses

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) charged Hawatha Jevon Bell, 35, with Obtaining Money Under False Pretenses – Value More than $2,000 but Less Than $10,000 on Tuesday, February 17, 2026. The South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles requested the SLED investigation.
Details can be found in the attached warrant.
Bell was booked into the Spartanburg County Detention Center.
The case will be prosecuted by the 7th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
