SLED Charges Sumter County Man with Vehicle Crimes

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) charged Jahquel Maurice Cheverez, 22, with Altering, Forging, or Counterfeiting Certification of a Title, and with Chop Shop, Alter, Deface, Destroy, Disguise a Vehicle ID Number on Tuesday, April 28, 2026. The South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles requested the SLED investigation.
Details can be found in the attached warrants.
Cheverez was booked into the Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center.
The case will be prosecuted by the 3rd Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
