SLED Partners with Local Nonprofit Supporting South Carolina Communities

Wednesday, Dec 3, 2025

Chief Mark Keel and SLED Agents helped pack 2,000 boxes of food yesterday for South Carolina families in need. Lieutenant Governor Pamela Evette also joined law enforcement officials across the state to support Greg’s Groceries, a non-profit, which is part of the Serve & Connect initiative.

Greg’s Groceries was founded to honor fallen police officer, Greg Alia. This group partners with law enforcement personnel and distributes non-perishable food boxes to anyone in need. Distribution of the food boxes also helps create an opportunity for positive, non-enforcement interactions between police officers and the citizens they serve.

Since the organization’s 2017 launch, Greg’s Groceries has packed 29,340 food boxes during 50 separate events to help support South Carolina communities. Serve & Connect recently expanded the Greg’s Groceries initiative into North Carolina. To learn more about programs and resources through Serve & Connect, go to  www.serveandconnect.org
